Outpatient Care to Support Your Recovery Journey
Missouri Outpatient Program, IOP and PHP
Kirkwood Outpatient Program
At The Aviary Recovery Center, we are committed to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery through a comprehensive continuum of outpatient services, available to clients in the Kirkwood area. Our programs are ideal for those who have completed residential treatment or who can navigate daily responsibilities without the need for 24/7 medical supervision or detox for substance use. Our team of physicians, counselors, nurses, and recovery advocates specialize in the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction with co-occurring illnesses such as depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and trauma.
Our outpatient services in Kirkwood, Missouri, offer a full range of treatment options, including a traditional outpatient program, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and a partial hospitalization program (PHP). These programs are designed to fit into your daily life—allowing you to continue with school, work, and family responsibilities while receiving the structured support necessary for lasting recovery.
No matter what level of care you pursue, our mission remains the same: to support you on the path to long-lasting sobriety. Our flexible schedule gives clients the opportunity to attend treatment confidentially, since work or school won’t need to be interrupted.
Aviary’s outpatient program meets the needs of individuals who require support and structure but do not need 24-hour care in a hospital setting.
Studies show that individuals who stay actively involved in treatment and adhere to their care plans are up to 60% more likely to maintain long-term recovery. Our programs are designed to help you build essential recovery skills, gain meaningful insight into the nature of addiction, and strengthen the resilience needed to manage it as a chronic condition. Ongoing engagement and a strong connection to recovery principles are key to creating a stable, substance-free future.
Clients in each of our outpatient programs can expect to receive:
- Addiction Education
- Relapse Prevention
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
- Mindfulness, meditation, and other holistic skills
- 12-Step Education
- Life skills
- A support system, including peer groups and AA

Our IOP is ideal for individuals ready to transition from PHP or who require more support than traditional outpatient care provides.

EVENING TRACK: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Depending on your needs and the needs of the group, other treatment approaches may be used to work through co-occurring issues that create stumbling blocks to recovery. This may be accomplished in group, individual, and/or family sessions designed by your primary therapist.
Kirkwood Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Schedule and Information:
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) offer short-term intensive addiction treatment that is a step above traditional outpatient care in a less restrictive environment compared to residential treatment. PHPs are often used as a bridge between residential treatment and outpatient care. Participants in a partial care program return home in the evenings, giving them many of the benefits of residential care while still enjoying the comforts of home.
The PHP program at Aviary Kirkwood meets Monday through Thursday 9:00 am – 2:30 pm.

What Are the Benefits of An Intensive Outpatient Program
10 Benefits of An Intensive Outpatient Program
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) can provide a structured and supportive environment for people who are struggling with addiction, mental health issues, or other challenges. IOPs offer a variety of benefits, including:
1. Structured support: IOPs provide a more structured environment than traditional outpatient therapy, with regular group and individual therapy sessions, as well as educational workshops and other activities. This structure can help people stay on track with their recovery and reduce the risk of relapse.
2. Comprehensive treatment: IOPs typically offer a variety of treatment modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and medication management. This comprehensive approach can address the underlying causes of addiction or mental health issues and help people develop healthy coping mechanisms.
3. Increased accountability: IOPs provide greater accountability than traditional outpatient therapy. Participants are typically required to attend all sessions and complete assignments, which can help them stay motivated and committed to their recovery.
4. Socialization and support: IOPs provide an opportunity for people to connect with others who are going through similar challenges. This can help reduce feelings of isolation and provide valuable peer support.
5. Flexibility: IOPs offer more flexibility than inpatient treatment, allowing people to continue with their work, school, or family responsibilities. This can be helpful for people who need to stay involved in their communities.
6. Lower cost: IOPs are typically less expensive than inpatient treatment. This can make them a more affordable option for many people.
7. Step-down from inpatient treatment: For people who have completed inpatient treatment, an IOP can provide a safe and supportive environment to transition back to their communities.
8. Continued support after residential treatment: Some IOPs offer continuing care services after the program is completed. This can help people maintain their gains and prevent relapse.
9. Focus on life skills: Many IOPs teach life skills, such as time management, communication, and stress management. These skills can help people live healthy and productive lives.
10. Improved quality of life: IOPs can help people improve their overall quality of life by reducing symptoms of addiction or mental health issues, improving relationships, and increasing self-esteem.
