Outpatient Care to Support Your Recovery Journey

Missouri Outpatient Program, IOP and PHP

Lee’s Summit Outpatient Care from The Aviary

At The Aviary Recovery Center, we are committed to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery through a comprehensive continuum of outpatient services, now available in Lee’s Summit and nearby communities. Our programs are ideal for those who have completed residential treatment or who can navigate daily responsibilities without the need for 24/7 medical supervision or detox for substance use.

Our outpatient services include a traditional Outpatient Program, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). These flexible treatment options are designed to accommodate your lifestyle—making it possible to attend school, maintain employment, and care for your family while receiving structured support for lasting recovery.

The Purpose of Outpatient Programs: Building a Foundation for Lifelong Sobriety

No matter the level of care — Outpatient, IOP, or PHP — our goal remains the same: to help you achieve and sustain long-term sobriety. Research shows that individuals who actively participate in treatment and adhere to their care plan are up to 60% more likely to maintain recovery over the long term. Our programs emphasize the development of essential recovery skills, insight into the nature of addiction, and the resilience needed to manage it as a chronic condition. Ongoing engagement and connection to treatment principles are key to building a healthy, substance-free future.

All Levels of Care Include:

  • Weekly Individual Therapy
  • Optional Bi-Weekly Family Therapy
  • Evidence-Based Group Programming, including:
    • Addiction Education
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
    • Relapse Prevention
    • Mindfulness and Meditation
    • 12-Step Exposure and Education

The Outpatient Program Schedule and Information:

Wednesdays: 5:30 PM – 7 PM

Our OP group offers a lower-intensity option focused on continued support, accountability, and relapse prevention. Ideal for those stepping down from higher levels of care or seeking maintenance-level engagement, the program provides a meaningful way to stay connected to recovery without disrupting daily life.

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Schedule and Information:

MORNING TRACK: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 9 am – Noon
EVENING TRACK: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm

At Aviary Recovery, our Intensive Outpatient Program at the Lee’s Summit location consists of three sessions a week (three hours each session) with a licensed mental health professional. There are two tracks, morning and evening. Flexible scheduling allows clients to choose the track or mix of sessions that best suits their personal and professional needs. Our IOP is ideal for individuals ready
to transition from PHP or who require more support than traditional outpatient care provides.

Depending on your needs and the needs of the group, other treatment approaches may be used to work through co-occurring issues that create stumbling blocks to recovery. This may be accomplished in group, individual, and/or family sessions designed by your primary therapist.

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) Schedule and Information:

Monday through Thursday 9 am – 2:30pm

PHP is a structured, daytime program ideal for individuals needing intensive support without requiring residential treatment. It offers a strong foundation for early recovery while allowing clients to return home each day.

What Are the Benefits of An Intensive Outpatient Program

10 Benefits of An Intensive Outpatient Program

An intensive outpatient program (IOP) can provide a structured and supportive environment for people who are struggling with addiction, mental health issues, or other challenges. IOPs offer a variety of benefits, including:

1. Structured support: IOPs provide a more structured environment than traditional outpatient therapy, with regular group and individual therapy sessions, as well as educational workshops and other activities. This structure can help people stay on track with their recovery and reduce the risk of relapse.

2. Comprehensive treatment: IOPs typically offer a variety of treatment modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and medication management. This comprehensive approach can address the underlying causes of addiction or mental health issues and help people develop healthy coping mechanisms.

3. Increased accountability: IOPs provide greater accountability than traditional outpatient therapy. Participants are typically required to attend all sessions and complete assignments, which can help them stay motivated and committed to their recovery.

4. Socialization and support: IOPs provide an opportunity for people to connect with others who are going through similar challenges. This can help reduce feelings of isolation and provide valuable peer support.

5. Flexibility: IOPs offer more flexibility than inpatient treatment, allowing people to continue with their work, school, or family responsibilities. This can be helpful for people who need to stay involved in their communities.

6. Lower cost: IOPs are typically less expensive than inpatient treatment. This can make them a more affordable option for many people.

7. Step-down from inpatient treatment: For people who have completed inpatient treatment, an IOP can provide a safe and supportive environment to transition back to their communities.

8. Continued support after residential treatment: Some IOPs offer continuing care services after the program is completed. This can help people maintain their gains and prevent relapse.

9. Focus on life skills: Many IOPs teach life skills, such as time management, communication, and stress management. These skills can help people live healthy and productive lives.

10. Improved quality of life: IOPs can help people improve their overall quality of life by reducing symptoms of addiction or mental health issues, improving relationships, and increasing self-esteem.
