Most people, when thinking about the aspects of residential treatment for a substance use disorder, likely focus on two things: detoxification and rehabilitation.

And that makes sense. After all, each of those aspects of treatment is so ingrained in our cultural thinking that we refer to them by diminutive nicknames: detox and rehab. The two processes—the first gets you sober, the second helps you build a foundation for staying sober—are closely connected, which is another reason it is understandable that they are the portions of the treatment process folks are most familiar with.

But there is a third aspect of treatment that isn’t as well known (and which doesn’t have an edgy nickname). It’s called a continuum of care, and The Aviary Recovery Center is absolutely committed to ensuring that those who are beginning their recovery journey have the resources and support they need to feel confident in their sobriety.

What does that look like in practice? Let us give you a couple of examples.

The CaredFor App

There is an app for everything these days, right? So it probably won’t be too much of a surprise when we tell you we offer an app called CaredFor that allows those we have served to connect and support one another in their recovery journey. The app also provides an easy way of staying in touch with The Aviary Recovery Center.

Each alum who uses the app has access to a personalized dashboard that offers a range of tools. For example, the app can track a person’s sobriety time so that there is a clear and daily reminder of progress being made. A built-in gratitude journal is included. And the CaredFor app also provides access to articles and resource materials as well as support from recovery experts—including those from The Aviary Recovery Center.

Alumni of The Aviary Recovery Program can use the CaredFor app at no cost. You can find it in your app store or you can text “Aviary” to 30678 to get started.

Our Alumni Program

As handy and helpful as an app can be, sometimes what you really need is some in-person connection with others who are on the same sort of journey. To that end, The Aviary Recovery Center offers an alumni program

The alumni group provides opportunities to give—and receive—peer support. It also allows alumni to stay connected with The Aviary staff and to find and access resources that support sober living.

Among the offerings is a weekly after-care program that meets each Tuesday from 4:00 to 5:00 pm. The program is open to those who sought treatment for a substance use disorder at The Aviary’s Eolia and Kirkwood locations.

Those who remain substance-free are welcome to participate. (We want to be quite clear here: If you have relapsed, The Aviary Recovery Center is still here for you; it is essential that you return to treatment so that you can regain your sobriety once again.)

We’re Here to Help with the Challenges

Here’s something you probably already know: Recovery isn’t easy. It comes with lots of challenges, and sometimes it will just seem as though it would be easier to give into temptation when the cravings are fierce or your day has gone badly or you encounter any of a whole bunch of situations that might threaten your sobriety.

We know how hard it can be. And that is why we are committed not just to detox and rehabilitation services, but to the continuum of care as well. We want to support you as your recovery journey continues.

First Things First: You Have to Get Sober to Stay Sober

Are you struggling with drugs or alcohol? If so, don’t try to ignore or explain away what’s happening. Instead, get the help you need to get sober and reclaim your life. The best time to seek out help overcoming a substance use disorder is always right now.

At The Aviary Recovery Center, you can count on evidence-based care delivered by compassionate individuals who have the expertise and experience to create a personalized treatment plan just for you. We will see you through medically supervised detoxification, through our robust rehabilitation program (which includes addressing any co-occurring mental health disorders), and on to the beginning of your recovery journey. As we have noted, our continuum of care ensures that you continue to have access to resources, strategies, and support.
