The Aviary Recovery Center in Eolia, Missouri
Missouri Residential Treatment Program
Eolia Residential Treatment Program
At our main campus in Eolia, we offer a comprehensive and compassionate approach to treating substance use disorders through our Residential Addiction Treatment Program. Designed for individuals who need more intensive care than outpatient services can provide, residential treatment offers 24/7 support in a structured, therapeutic environment.
The Aviary Recovery Center is set on 100 acres of beautiful, secluded property that was previously a privately-owned nature and wildlife retreat. In this peaceful setting, clients receive evidence-based addiction treatment along with holistic therapies that include yoga, meditation, and mindfulness practices to promote relaxation and stress reduction. Other holistic treatments may include acupuncture, massage therapy, art therapy, music therapy, and equine therapy.
Our campus is an important part of our recovery program as its expansive and natural setting lends itself to recreation and leisure. A patio and lawn are available for recreation dependent on weather, along with a volleyball court, ponds, and walking trails. We also have an on-campus gym and basketball court.
At the core of our program is developing a safe, structured environment with the right amount of flexibility. The day has scheduled meal times, programming, leisure time, and break times. The schedule will mirror that of a typical work or school day. The activities provided are meant to help you prepare for your life after treatment.
What is Residential Addiction Treatment?
Residential addiction treatment is an intensive level of care in the field of mental health and substance abuse. Individuals live full-time at the treatment facility and receive round-the-clock care from a team of experienced addiction and mental health professionals. This setting is ideal for those dealing with substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, or behavioral issues that require focused, sustained attention.
Our Approach at The Aviary
At The Aviary, we recognize that addiction is not a choice—it is a chronic brain disease that demands medical intervention, much like diabetes or heart disease. Our treatment model begins with a comprehensive psychosocial, nursing, and medical assessment conducted by a primary therapist. This evaluation forms the basis of an individualized treatment plan tailored to each client’s unique needs.
At The Aviary Recovery Center in Eolia, clients receive:
- 24/7 medical and therapeutic care
- A safe, supportive environment
- Structured daily routines and recovery-focused activities
- Services from a multidisciplinary team, including counselors, physicians, social workers, nurses, and recovery coaches
We treat a range of addictions, including dependence on alcohol, opiates, heroin, benzodiazepines, prescription medications, and other substances.
Specialized Treatment for Co-Occurring Disorders
Most of the individuals we treat also struggle with a co-occurring mental health condition. At The Aviary, we specialize in treating dual diagnoses such as:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Trauma and PTSD
- Sleep disorders
Integrated care ensures both addiction and mental health challenges are addressed simultaneously, increasing the chances of successful recovery.
Full Continuum of Care
We offer a full continuum of care that includes:
- Medically supervised detox
- Adult residential treatment
- Specialized programs for professionals
- Family weekend curriculum
- Intensive outpatient programs (IOP)
A typical treatment plan might include:
- 5–7 days of detox
- 3–5 weeks of residential care
- Up to 12 weeks of outpatient therapy
The length of stay is individualized based on clinical needs and personal progress. Upon discharge, we coordinate with each client’s primary care provider to ensure a smooth transition back home.
The Importance of Detox: The First Step Toward Recovery
Detoxification is a critical first step in recovery. It removes physical dependence on drugs or alcohol and helps manage withdrawal symptoms safely.
Why Professional Detox Matters:
- Medical Safety: Withdrawal can be unpredictable and potentially life-threatening. Professional supervision ensures complications are handled promptly.
- Emotional Support: Detox can bring up intense emotions such as anxiety and depression. Our team helps clients navigate this experience with care.
- Mental Clarity: Detox stabilizes the mind and body, helping clients become more receptive to ongoing therapy.
- Improved Outcomes: Research shows that individuals who undergo detox before entering treatment have higher chances of long-term sobriety.
However, it’s important to understand that detox alone is not a cure. Sustained recovery depends on comprehensive treatment, behavioral changes, therapy, and long-term support.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
At The Aviary, our clinical team is trained in administering Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) as part of a personalized recovery plan. MAT is used to reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms, and it should only be managed by qualified medical professionals.
Differences in Treating Alcohol vs. Drug Addiction
While the core goals of residential treatment are the same—support, stability, and sobriety—there are important distinctions in how alcohol and drug addiction are treated.
Detox Needs:
- Alcohol: Requires close monitoring due to potentially life-threatening withdrawal symptoms like seizures or delirium tremens.
- Drugs: Varies by substance; opiates or benzodiazepines may need medical detox, while others may allow direct entry into treatment.
Treatment Focus:
- Alcohol: Emphasis on managing social and psychological triggers, coping strategies, and education.
- Drugs: Tailored strategies based on substance type (e.g., CBT for stimulants, relapse prevention for opiates).
A Solid Foundation for Recovery
Recovery is difficult—especially when trying to manage it alongside life’s daily responsibilities. Stepping away from home and into a professional residential setting can provide the structure and support needed to build lasting sobriety.
Let The Aviary Recovery Center in Missouri be your first step toward healing. With expert care, a supportive community, and a commitment to your long-term success, we’re here to help you reclaim your life.
